Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A combination of training and experience which provides a working knowledge of office procedures and practices
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability and willingness to cross train co-workers in job related responsibilities
- Skilled/trained on computer and various other office equipment
- Working knowledge of business English, usage, punctuation, spelling, arithmetic, and filing
- Ability and willingness to understand, follow, and give written and oral instructions
- Ability to maintain effective working relationship with employees, parents, students, and public

Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepares confidential documents for employee evaluations, disciplinary documents, grievances, and collective bargaining issues.
- Prescribes duties to and monitors work of clerical office personnel if so directed by the appropriate administrator.
- Serves as the coordinator of substitute employees as the assigned location, including responding to requests for absences, organizing and disseminating materials for substitutes, and assisting in the direction of work of substitute employees.
- Performs basic word processing functions.
- Sorts and files correspondence, reports, vouchers or other material numerically, alphabetically, or by other establishes classifications.
- Sets up and maintains a regular filing system as well as a set of locked confidential files and process incoming correspondence as instructed.
- Clears files at designated intervals under a supervisor’s direction.
- Maintains effective working relationships with other employees, students, parents, and the public.
- Orders and maintains office supplies as needed.
- Locates, removes, transfers, and distributes requested information; keeps records of materials transferred/distributed/removed.
- Computes data from listing, reports, or other records; assembles data in appropriate form for use in completing required reports.
- Carries out inventories where applicable.
- Types letters, memoranda, reports, cards, statements, purchase orders’ tabulations and other materials from copy or rough draft; operates photo copier and other office machines as required.
- 1Maintains a schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews for the principal/director.
- Performs any bookkeeping and other job-related tasks associated with the specific position.
- Welcomes visitors and arranges for their comfort; screens unexpected callers in accordance with predetermined policy.
- Takes and transcribes dictations of various types, including correspondence, reports, notices and recommendations.
- Screens and refers office callers; takes telephone messages.
- Performs other job-related functions as assigned.
