Qualifications:
- Diploma: high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience successfully working with children preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Monitors formative and standardized assessments of students.
- Assists (in varied school learning environments) in the instructional process by working with students, individually and in small groups, supplementing regular instruction and implementing developmental lesson plans at the direction of a teacher.
- Substitutes for an absent teacher when called upon by the building principal.
- Performs assigned duties related to student safety of campus (i.e., bus duty, playground, parent pickup, walkway safety, lunchroom duty, field trips.)
- Assists with maintaining a clean, orderly, healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Attends scheduled meetings as necessary, including training and program meetings.
- Assists the children in developing self-help skills, such as eating, making healthy choices, staying safe, and being hygienic.
- Assists students in the development of study skills necessary for learning and in the achievement of instructional objectives.
- Supports parental involvement activities.
- Adheres to ethical behavior and decision-making; complies with laws and policies concerning confidentiality of student information.
- Assists with children’s mobility around the classroom, school, and play areas.
- Keeps accurate records of activities and prepares regular reports as directed by the teacher or administrator.
- Keeps the teacher informed of problems and concerns that occur in the classroom and related activities.
- Assists in translation for ELL students (when employee is possessed of multi-lingual skills).
- Performs other duties related to the job goal of the position.
